DROUGHT
North Maharashtra | Independent Documentary
This body of work documents drought in rural North Maharashtra. It depicts water challenges, the daily life of the villagers, and the impact of drought on the environment and the lives of inhabitants. Over several months and across a couple of years, I captured the struggles and micro moments of the many communities and the larger socio-economic situation that underscored the ground reality. This project is based on seeing daily life closely—how water is collected, stored, and used. The photographs focus on a routine, and aim to bring to life a deeper insight into drought as an environmental issue.
Outcome:
The work forms a long-term visual record of drought conditions in the region, developed through repeated visits and ongoing observation.
